FALL INTO YOUR JOY
In Colorado our weather can be a bit disorienting. In the bright, sunny days of summer we might get snow. When it begins to turn to autumn, the weather can still be quite hot between the colder days that roll in with a few gray clouds. And then, in the heart of winter, we can have the most gorgeous. sunny, warm days and then a cold front moves in bringing the snow. It’s quite a dance between the seasons; we’re never sure who’s leading and who’s following!
With the glimpse of what could be, it creates a desire for the weather to be different; a longing for things to change. On the flip side, it takes me a while to get into fall. I long for the weather to be warm and sunny. I hold on to the idea of summer for so long that I forget to see the beauty in the changes occurring all around me.
This is so very much like our lives. We resist change. We long for it. We want to hold onto the past for dear life. We want to drop what is happening now to get to something we perceive to be better. What is it that we’re holding onto? What are we wishing for? The comfort of knowing what to expect? The potential of what could be if we no longer like where we are? Comfort? Contentment? Joy? Excitement?
What if we simply embraced the season we are in? What if we could release the grip of what was and allow ourselves to see the moment for all that it has to give us? What if we stopped grasping for what we think will be a better place and opened our hands to receive what is happening right now? Could it be that by holding onto the past and hoping for the future, we are blocking ourselves from seeing the amazing gifts that are resting gently in our laps, patiently waiting for us to focus on them?
There is so much beauty, comfort, growth and excitement that can be experienced in this very moment.
Are you willing to fall into your joy right here, right now?
